Quote for the day

"When God forgives our sin, he is not changing his mind about us; he is changing our mind about him."

Fantastic quote! It reminds me of Barth's doctrine of reconciliation, in which he stresses that reconciliation is not about God being reconciled to us but us being reconciled to God.

I think it's always of paramount importance to stress God's immutability in the area of forgiveness as well. It's not that God ever ceases to love us until due penance is made; his universal salvific will remains as such at all times. When thinking eschatologically this does away with the notion that God 'sends' people to hell, rather people simply choose not to respond to God's unwavering love.

Great quote! It puts our redemption in perspective. And all this time I thought it was all about me ;)
